Well, maybe Mandami figured that if Cuomo can make inferences that he’s some kind of jihaddist and use images of 911, anything is fair game.

It's cringe on both sides, but the jihadist thing is widely seen as a desperate smear as it should be while sexual misconduct isn't questioned at all. That's the problem.

The whole jihadist thing doesn't mix well with the woke stuff that Mamdani peddles (Muslims for transgenderism?). I actually think Mamdani is a good fit for the sewer NY has become, alas.

Though I am suspicious, I don't know for sure that Cuomo is a sexual predator. I do know that he is an racist, bigoted Islamophobe; a cheerleader for genocide in Gaza; and a faciitator of corporate greed.

All true. Mamdani should have taken the high road, and didn't. This is typical of both the major Parties today.

Boylan seems like a pleasant, refined, nice lady...and since turnabout is fair play, I would bet she was projecting, and daddy wasn't in her life. I did my own research, and the third word in her Instagram profile is "Feminist." Hypothesis Confirmed.

Why doesn’t anyone vote for Sliwa? He seems a good candidate… but little press

I voted for Sliwa in 2021 (yes, I’m one of the inmates), and I would again in a straight-up race, mostly because he’s the Republican and I’m one of many whose attitude toward the Democrats since 2020 has migrated from cynical acceptance to outright revulsion.

But while there’s no big reason to vote against Sliwa – the worst things he seems to have done in public life were staging crime-fighting escapades decades ago in the early days of his Guardian Angels group – there’s also no real reason to support him or think he is up to the job: his entire career has been limited to getting publicity and talking (which is ok as far as it goes, since his day job for a long time has been as talk-radio personality). He’s smart and well-informed (moreso than his Noo Yawk dese and dose persona might often project), but has never built or accomplished anything that’s discernible to me, other than maybe some small-scale good works in the animal-welfare area, nor has he ever run a real organization.

So I’m not going to find it too difficult to do the strategic vote for Cuomo to try to stop Mamdani, since Cuomo’s current chameleon color scheme is more in line with where I am now, with my support for him slightly juiced by the desire to see the #MeToo garbage Michael describes here repudiated.

I could see at the time that the "sexual harassment" case was contrived bs. It was infuriating because he should've been impeached for his horrific nursing home policy which killed so many. Too many others involved in that though so they dredged up the sexual nonsense. New York deserves whichever they get.

Tim N's avatar

That's right. It's like the Dems impeaching Trump twice on nonsense, and ignoring his real and easily proved crimes. Now, when they really should be impeaching him, they don't dare. Trump's existence is all they have to run on, so why would they get rid of him now?

Maybe Cuomo is falsely accused of sexual misbehavior. It does not compensate for him being a genocide supporter.

Quelle surprise, Micheal is making excuses for another sleazy asshole.

Why do you equate with refuting something as an excuse for that person?

If it's a lie, it's a lie and just because it helps our cause of not having Cuomo win, we shouldn't rely on it and be mad at the truth.

So what if he's possibly not a sexual predator.

We all know he's a total asshole and used COVID to injure many.

Where did i say he’s a sexual predator? These pieces of it should be left to defend themselves. Micheal had a weird but predictable habit of defending them, with a seemingly particular antipathy towards women.

My point was that he's not excusing Cuomo for anything by pointing out that one of his bad marks was likely a lie.

It's antipathy to women to question their stories when they say contradictory things?

You are starting to sound like the "me too" movement which at one point supported blind belief in claims. Flimsy claims should be challenged.

Yes, but by Cuomo without the assistance of anyone else unless they are hired by him. Nobody knows what actually happened other than Cuomo and the thirteen women who accused him, so Micheal isn’t “refuting” anything, he’s just - as he creepily usually does - sharing his opinion which just happens to be in defence of Trump, Epstein, Cuomo…. and always attacking women.

So, because Cuomo's team of lawyers delayed and intimidated this young woman it alleviates his guilt. 13 more to go.

Cuomo will do as much irreparable harm to NYC as Mamdani.

Curtis Sliwa is the only hope for this city.

Mamdani or Cuomo will only reside over it's burial.

Excellent Michael. Thanks!

Of course, what would you have expected from a "fierce political competitor" like Zohran Mamdani. The quotations are representative of at least have the PR appearance of a fierce political competitor. The following from your article is telling:

Representing the pro-Mamdani side of the Unherd debate was Lindsey Boylan, one of the farcical ring-leaders of Cuomo’s removal, who was running for Manhattan Borough President at the time she debuted her nonsense accusations. So, I thought I’d ask her a nice question.

The interview with Cuomo should prove interesting, esp. since perhaps most people in the state of New York have probably voted already(I voted on Friday in Suffolk County, LI). If Cuomo were smarter he would have asked for such an interview with you about a month earlier. But then again, it's two-party PR.

Bizarrely, this reminds me of the Alanis Morissette song Isn't it Ironic.

Thanks again.

Mamdani is a jihadist and Cuomo, with all his misdeeds was not a sexual harasser. Nor was Trump, with all his flaws. Nor Al Franken, nor Garrison Keillor pathetic guy who droned on about Lake Woebegone Days on PBS, nor the crazy Roy Jones who was running for Senate in Alabama, nor Bill O’Reilly, Tyrus, Trent Frank… It is a terrible weaponized takedown using lies and the law as weapons.

My husband’s business partner was ruined by an office receptionist whose name he didn’t know, nor would he have approached.

I know what real sexual harassment and attempted rape is. And I know what blackmail, coercion and an agenda is. These women and their attorneys should be prosecuted for harassment, fraud, perjury, subornation of perjury and anything else that can be applied, but nobody who is on the the side at the right time or targeting the right person is every held to account, nor are those who are actually guilty of the abuse charges. Or in cases like Ted Kennedy’s- murder. He got a Senate seat and presidential bid.

I never followed the Cuomo allegations since I don't really care about tne NY governor position, but I did always think it was suspicious about so many allegations in a high ranking government office. The training on sexual harassment is so widespread in any government office these days, that it always rang a bit odd.

Separately, a word of advice on verbal interviewing: prepare your question(s) in advance in writing and just read it(them) so that you come across dispassionately and rationally. You get too worked up emotionally when you speak, which does a disservice to your journalism.

I don't think you are saying he quit the governorship, but he shouldn't have because he was innocent of the allegations. And by the same token, I don't think you are claiming Epstein was innocent of child sex trafficking. After all, Maxwell was found to be a child sex trafficker, was she not? At whose behest if not Epstein's? You are doing great and necessary work, but we mustn't lose the larger truth.
