What I can't get over, or understand at any level, is how docile and conformist the students must be at these swanky, exclusive private universities. Why do they tolerate such absurdity?

I'm at a loss for words here. What the fuck is wrong with these kids?

Maybe I read it on Michael Tracy's twitter feed (or someone else's; I can't remember) that a college admin admitted that in most cases the colleges know that instituting these Covid "safety" rules are ridiculously unscientific but they are doing it at the insistence of the parents. It would seem that the "smarter" and richer you are, the easier it is to influence you by propaganda and tribal rituals.

At this point I'm convinced that anywhere liberals are the ones running the show, Covid restrictions won't go away until they become unfashionable.

I think you are right. I live in San Diego County. The city of San Diego, and the coastal cities, are fairly liberal. But the inland cities, and especially the inland unincorporated towns/areas are fairly conservative. I live in one of the most conservative unincorporated towns. Covid restrictions imposed by the State, and County, are ignored in my town by more than 90% of the people, most notably the mask mandate. In the more liberal areas the script is flipped.

The "wave" will recede only when we get tired of this crap, and say no. I have been pointing this out to anyone who will listen, and I think it is slowly getting through. But, in the words of Upton Sinclair "you cannot convince a man of something so long as his paycheck depends on him not knowing it."

In the ghetto school where I work, the students, all black, routinely ignore our new principal's rule to "make sure you wear your mask over your mouth and nose". The new principal, a small, fey, career bureaucrat from out of district, keeps reminding everyone about the importance of masks. To his credit, his head hasn't exploded. He doesn't push too hard, because we all know that would be racist.

He did offer us an Office365 link if we wanted to snitch on a student who wouldn't pull his mask up over his mouth or nose. I have no idea if any teacher has used it.

These are the benefits of working in the ghetto. Now that a NY supreme court judge just obliterated Karen Hochul's mask mandate, we'll see what happens going forward.

Going to be LITT!!!

Yes - but WW3 is coming !?!?!

Key players in the Russia-gate hoax and impeachment “entertainments” are now hyperventilating about “all but certain major war in Europe a la WW2” – ghouls Adam Schiff, colonel Alexander Windman (an Ukrainian) and Fiona Hill (a Cold War warrior on National Security Council). Same lying bastards who led the scam of the century concocted by the SAME lying team -- Obama-Biden-Hillary-Pelosi-Schumer-Schiff and the rest of DNC-CIA/FBI cabal.

Adam Schiff has been, for years, a leading recipient of huge “donations” by arm industry – his main source of funds. Remember when Raytheon in 2013 put on a Beyonce concert to promote Adam Schiff? This despicable -- that human excrement and serial liar is among leading Congress war-mongers and recipient of arm industry donations.

http://politicalpartytime.org/party/36073/

Schiff is now driving government’s domestic terrorism legislation !! In his free time this loathsome grifter wants to write a novel – of all things about Holocaust.

The entire Russia-gate lying team is back in FULL power -- we are now paying the price for not fully unmasking the brazen scam of the century. Of course, Trump and GOP lunatics were and remain VERY bad, however – however, DNC lying and warmongering team is INFINITELY more dangerous. They will likely try to prevent 2022 elections - as "illegal" - in order to stay in power.

Also remember – Biden was the governor of Ukraine under Obama – selecting and removing heads of industry and Ukraine’s puppet government after successful US coup there. The immense corruption of Biden family still needs to be investigated – Hunter’s Burisma was used to ‘wash” their dirty money. Thanks heavens that recent “colored revolution” coups in Belarus and Kazakhstan were not successful.

WHO will be the first current or former Democrat Congresswoman/man or Senator to publicly acknowledge and confirm the brazen scam of the century – DNC’s + CIA/FBI security complex (St. Obama/Biden/Hillary/Pelosi/Schumer, Jammie Raskin, etc. + Brennan, Clapper, Hayden, etc.) Russia-gate hoax and subsequent conspiracies, including 1/6 “armed insurrection”?

War-monger vampires must be stopped. Military-industrial complex must be defunded – US main “products” and exports are now weapons, coups and immense and all-encompassing corruption. China is far more capitalist than the US, Russia has not been Communist for 30+ years, while the US is a corporate socialism (more polite term for fascism)

Michael, you've done an outstanding job of covering the covid insanity. Your next mission should be to cover the coming onslaught of gaslighting from the bi-coastal media during the runup to 2022 midterms. The dam is starting to break among the "brain" of the blue check universe (i.e. Ezra Klein, The Atlantic, etc.) who are aware not only of the coming electoral earthquake, but also with the growing number of people who have had it. In the last two weeks, we've had CNN anchors and major coastal newspapers admit things that would have had people like you banned from YouTube just two weeks ago. Don't let these people shift the narrative as if the last 2 years never happened.

One of my pet peeves through this is the overuse and misuse of the word virulent. Omicron is NOT "virulent", it is highly transmissible. We're just using that word to drive panicked obedience through fear.

I'm pretty happy with how things are in Florida and I think I'm beginning to lean more towards being on the "crank" side believing that this thing might be more "airborne AIDS" with what it does to the immune system plus scared of how mutagenic it is.

But the masks have completely protected my large family these two years, one of whom works at a grocery store where hundreds of unique contacts are had in just one week.

If not for that, I'd be depressed. Personally, the booster was one of the worst things I've experienced in the last few years and several people I know who had similar experiences felt like me: we can't keep doing this. The thought of going through that again is enough to make me cry; I'm not sure I can.

I wish those who take Covid seriously would give up their love affair with the arms race and respect masks.

You know you and everyone in your family is going to get this virus sooner or later (probably sooner), if you didn't already and were asymptomatic. Given that fact, (which every "expert" will confirm) and moving on to masks: There is no scientific evidence that masks work. The only post-Covid studies (except the two mentioned below) were done with mannequins. Pre-Covid, there were mask studies that showed they were not efficacious. When Fauci first went on 60 minutes and said masks don't work, he was referring to these earlier studies. Two post-Covid masks studies with real people were done in Bangladesh and Denmark. In both studies, masks were of minimal benefit and cloth masks were entirely useless. https://www.city-journal.org/public-healths-truth-problem On the other hand, masks are psychologically and socially damaging, especially to children and over the long period of time this has gone on. If you deny that, you aren't using common sense.

Speaking of LA, I just saw that the public schools are now requiring legit (non-cloth) masks even while students are playing sports or outside. This is in addition to a vaccine requirement. There is no guidance from the CDC, WHO or even Fauci claiming these measures are necessary or even effective. Even other countries with extremely strict measures like Australia aren't making kids wear masks. It's just pure neurosis from petty, histrionic schoolmarms who are still pissed that they were dragged kicking and screaming back into the classroom.

It's culture war. And the people who have been fighting the longest: Universities, Hollywood, etc. have been so thoroughly overcome by the institutional left at this point that they will be the last to get rid of any Covid measures. Business's will be some of the first to change, as they aren't as invested in it. Over the last few weeks, I have gone maskless to the bank (Chase), Home Depot, Grocery store (Kroger owned), Petco, as they seem to not want to push it.

I usually don't resurrect threads, but the Boston Globe ran this editorial:

https://www.boston.com/news/coronavirus/2022/01/31/boston-area-doctors-call-for-an-end-to-mandatory-masking-in-schools/?p1=hp_featurestack

Granted, this was actually published in WaPO but the Globe put it at the top of their feed and it's written by Boston area doctors. If you've been following the Globe's coverage of Covid and the doctors they typically feature for "expert" advice, this is a total 180. I wonder if they will loose a significant amount of subscribers given that a huge chunk of their readers are PMC. Credit where credit is due.

Most of the time it is Covid on MPR. Unless they want to make excuses for Biden's coming war with Russia. Once in a while it will be about how cold it is.
