One of the interview segues I’ve been using with Republican elected officials here at the Convention in Milwaukee is to ask if they think there was divine intervention at play in sparing Trump the worst of the would-be assassin’s bullet last weekend. Most seem to believe there was in fact some version of divine intervention involved. I then transition to asking if they similarly believe in a divine obligation to arm and finance Israel. The answers have been… instructive.
Here is an interview with Rep. Andy Barr (R-KY) on the Convention floor in which he declares: “Being pro-Israel is ‘America First.’ Plain and simple.” Here’s another one with Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL) who famously wore his Israeli military fatigues at the US Capitol after October 7. Here is another one with Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) who has her own unique “take” on the subject.
There’s many more where that came from. All these interviews are being aired in some form on Glenn Greenwald’s “System Update” show, so look for that. I will do a more comprehensive compilation later, as I’m rushing around like a maniac right now.
And here’s a podcast style chat I had with the great Matt Taibbi and Walter Kirn.
I’ll write more comprehensive thoughts upon conclusion of the Convention. Please subscribe if you enjoy the content, so I can do more stuff like this in the future!
Thank you for documenting this — while the US genocide in Gaza continues (Israeli Nazis are just the executioners)
These people are all delusional, owned by Israel, & wonderful arguments for term limits.
While watching these interviews, I kept thinking that they sound more like they're representing Israelis, than Americans. While I have no love for Hamas & condemn the atrocities they committed, I also condemn the atrocities & ongoing war crimes committed by Israel. Repeated bombings of refugee camps is unconscionable, whether Israelis "dropped leaflets" or not. It's not like Gazans have any safe places to run to.
Israel obviously owns our Congress. I watch your interviews night after night, & ALL of them profess undying, limitless support for Israel & its "right to defend itself." By the time Israel finishes "defending itself," there may be no Gazans left, which should make Bibi & those nasty Israeli settlers who block aid shipments, very happy.
