These Generals with a demeanor like they are local McDonald’s managers being asked by a high school newspaper how they think bringing back the McRib is going to do.

It is pretty striking to read actual journalism. Thank you, Mr. Tracey!

The United States not only had foreknowledge, they planned the incursion.

Duh.

What does Russia propose to do about it?

Continue changing nationalities throughout the Donbas, I'd wager.

It's not a very long list. The New York Times on its own has over 1700 journalists on staff. For a while the audience for real journalism was growing, but suppression grows more aggressive and more effective with each passing month.

How long will it be before the contrarian voices are fully siloed - along with all of us reading this article - so the mainstream is hermetically sealed against dissent?

Michael, it sounds like you walked on the set of Dr Strangelove during filming. Or just walked right through the screen into the universe where Strangelove is real.

It’s particularly worrisome that these events are occurring when it’s not clear if the CiC is actually in charge or if a committee of powerful unelected warmongers are taking his place. Or, is K ‘in charge’?

In any case the posture of the US is weak, thus it doesn’t matter what/who is in charge.

IMHO: If she comments as a POTUS campaign her response can be seen as a statement of policy considering her current office. If the opposition comments someone would construe the comment aa treason, thus disqualifying him as a candidate and subject to the ultimate punishment.

What has happened to all the anti-war activists? Did they get taken out by a bioweapon?

Indeed. Michael, either you neglected to add the quotes here or you have spent way too much time with these military types. Please don't subject us to such vapid gibberish. I'm begging you.

I guess Ukraine's incursion into Russia could be considered "defensive," since we're also supposed to believe that Israel's bombardment of civilians in Gaza is "defensive."

You'll be at the DNC, then?!

Looking forward to your reporting.

It would be good to hear from some non-elected Democrats, if you could manage it.

Dude did a solid job at the Republican one. Looking forward to hearing these impending interviews, as well. Appreciate the work, Michael.

In my army days (the 70s), STRATCOM referred to US Army Strategic Communications. They ran comm centers around the world. Their unit patch was satirically referred to as the "electric basketball."

Nice article. The part you missed is what exactly the point of the incursion was. For ages, the Russians have been claiming that the Ukrainians are trying to cause a nuclear meltdown at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear powerplant in Russian-held territory of Ukraine. But the target of this incursion was the Kursk nuclear powerplant, and there are once again rumors that if Zelensky can't take it over and use it as a bargaining chip, he'd just as soon blow it up and cause a nuclear incident that way. That's why he's been pushing for a certain kind of missile.

When it came to Zaporizhzhia, the suspicions were that if the situation got dire enough, and a nuclear meltdown affects all of Europe of course, the UN would send in peacekeepers. The same might be true of Kursk. That would be a way to get US boots on the ground and being able to make excuses for it.

But if Ukraine does hit the power plant and cause a meltdown, the question really becomes how much did the US know and when did they know it? Were they helping the tiny little maniac in the green t-shirt, or did he do this without their permission and they're accomplices after the fact?
